some of these tracks were recorded throughout 2012 during the Beyond the Reach of the Whip, Waxworks in the White Hell, & Bottom Feeder: The Socialite sessions.
DER SCHNITT II: after finishing the 1st Der Schnitt i wanted to continue somewhere else derived from a similar theme & mood...the sound of a K-Hole or the traipse of some synthetic psychedelic Butylone-like path. consider these two tracks one long 10 minute song separated for the sake of convenient exploration.
DER SCHNITT: this was an outtake i never completed during one of the Beyond the Reach of the Whip albums. i probably already had enough tracks although the chorus did not exist then and there were no vocals anyway. i just recently added that so.....i like the slide as rhythm guitar in both of these tracks.
YES DIRK WEARS WHITE SOX: just paying homage to Joy Division, Siouxsie, The Cure, Adam Ant, Bauhaus. and i hate white socks too. that's all.
MY EVERYTHING: built upon an original demo i always loved that was recorded in the bathroom of my hotel room at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood (summer 2006). the intro is the hallway outside my door. there was a bachelorette party going on somewhere. it's there for posterity more than anything else. i can smell that smokey room when i hear it. i can also hear the reflection from the shower tiles in the vocal. i recorded a cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday (carellaross.bandcamp.com/album/nom-de-plume
) and a bunch of other demos as well. this redux version was recorded towards the end of the Beyond the Reach of the Whip Vol. 2 sessions and had nothing to do with that narrative. the end is from the movie Times Square. Yes it's the Sweet Transvestite.
LITTLE HUT CURSING: a new mix of an old track originally released on the Human Garbage Assembly Line album in 2011.
THE LAST TEMPTATION OF NICE: an outtake from the Bottom Feeder: The Socialite sessions. it's Better Living Through STDs' cousin.
WOMAN OF THE WORLD: this was an outtake from the Waxworks in the White Hell sessions. i recorded a handful of acoustic songs and chose Mating on the Strychnine for that album. the recording was better and more personal whereas this track was not really about anyone or anything....just a vibe. i recorded the original skeleton for this in someone's apartment away from my usual setup so i never returned to mix it until now. this track is included for me more than anyone else. it reminds me of something someone some place.
THE HIGHWAY: a cover of the Nymphs (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nymphs_%28album%29
) Inger Lorre one of the greatest female front women of all time and even better because you can stump the average chump with her name every time a.k.a. not EVERY great secret is completely ruined. fuck the drums. i muted them before rendering the final mix because the party was full. audio accounting can be a bitch at times especially when distortion is involved. besides this way it can end in the same hole as the beginning.
